Whitney Williams' first half penalty kick turned out
to be the only scoring necessary in a 3-0 victory over
the Coshocton Lady Redskins to claim the Division II
Sectional Tournament Crown at Hiland High School, Thursday.
With five minutes remaining in the half, freshman Karly
Jones was able to beat Coshocton keeper Lindsay Kennard,
who had come away from the goal to make it 2-0. Tasha
Mullet created the play with an assist. The only other
score came with 10:30 to go in the game when Owen looped
a shot over the top of Kennard from 35 yards out, capping
off a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal. RV keeper Emily
Lindsey had three saves. The Lady Bears (12-5-1) advance
to the district at Philo High School next week while
the Lady 'Skins end their season at 10-7-1. Report

Williams 2 goals. Owen 2 goals.
The Lady Bears scored three second half goals to win
4-1 at the Philo Athletic Complex, qualifying the program
for a seventh consecutive district final. Riding two-goal
efforts from both Whitney Williams and Ashley Owen,
River View (13-5-1) plays Philo (17-2-0) at noon Saturday
for the Philo Athletic Complex district crown.

Division II Girls Soccer District
Finals

River View 1 Philo 2
Williams 1 goal. An upstart program has ascended to
the Division II East District soccer throne. Freshman
Amy Stiltner punched home a penalty kick midway through
the second half and her Philo teammates withstood intense
River View pressure in the closing minutes, as the Lady
Electrics won the district clash 2-1 on the Philo Athletic
Complex field. Playing without sophomore center midfielder
Darcie Kaser due to a severe ankle sprain, the Lady
Bears (13-6-1) came up short of its fifth win in seven
straight district final appearances. Senior Whitney
Williams scored from the top of the penalty box at 2:21
in the 1st half for the loan Lady Bears goal. Report
